While walking by a grocery store, the Panther steals a banana, eats it, throws the peel away, steps on it and falls. A clothing manikin falls on top of him. An ambulance is called but picks up the manikin. After walking to the hospital the Panther is admitted to a room he must share with a grouchy patient. Several gags deal with the grouch making things difficult for the Panther and the Panther responding with mischief of his own. At feeding time the Panther finds he is on a liquid diet while the grouch gets a feast. He switches treatment data sheets with the grouch but ends up getting a stomach operation. More gags shows additional hospital screw-ups. When he is allowed to leave The Panther falls down the stairs, is taken back to the same room and the battles with the grouch begin again.
