A kitten is dropped in a sack out of a car and rolls down a hill, to arrive at the door of Clyde and Matilda Mouse. Matilda thinks the kitten is heaven-sent and wants to keep him, and Clyde reluctantly agrees. But the kitten doesn’t eat cheese and needs human companionship, and within weeks of their adopting the kitten, Clyde convinces Matilda that the kitten belongs with people. They leave the kitten on a lady’s doorstep. A year later, on their “son’s” birthday, Clyde and Matilda decide to visit him at his new home, and though the fully-grown cat remembers his adoptive rodent parents, his mistress doesn’t like the presence of two mice in her home.
